History of Fairfield Hotspurs Sports Club (FHSC)
Smithfield Hotspurs Football Club was founded in 1959 and then Fairfield Heights Junior Soccer Club a few years later. The neighbouring clubs were local rivals for many years and at their peak in the 1970’s and 1980’s each fielded up to 40 teams in the Southern Districts competition.
In 1981, Smithfield Hotspurs Little Athletics Centre (now Smithfield Athletics Centre) was formed under the auspices of Smithfield Hotspurs, becoming an independent club in 1995.
Smithfield Hotspurs and Fairfield Heights merged in late 1999, fielding teams under the current club name of Fairfield Hotspurs Sport Club in the 2000 season.
Our club during the years lays claim to at least three Australian international players:

- Traci Bartlett - Smithfield Hotspurs junior, 64 Matildas caps 1991-2001
